The Bank of Advance has endured through booms & busts since 1902. While our building may have changed over our 118 year history, our mission remains the same: work hard for the hard-working people in our communities. In the past few days, we've authorized approximately 120 SBA Paycheck Protection Program loans totaling over $5.1 million. We have been working diligently to get the PPP funds to our small businesses in need. We’re here for you.

With many businesses affected by changes in operation, it's never been more important to support your local community. To help establishments in your area, try:

---> Ordering takeout from local restaurants
---> Purchasing gift cards for future use
---> Sharing local promotions on social media

We’re all in this together.

Economic Impact Payments

The first round of stimulus payments are being posted to customer accounts today, and as a result, our Online and Mobile Banking services are experiencing extraordinarily high traffic levels as customers are checking their account. This influx of traffic is causing slowness and difficulties logging in. We are currently working to fix the issue. For questions about your account, please feel free to call your local branch or check your Online or Mobile Banking later in the day.

Also note, the stimulus payments are being sent in waves. If you do not see a deposit today, please continue monitoring your account. For those taxpayers that did not use direct deposit, you should receive a physical check in the mail in the next few weeks. For more information, visit: The IRS is committed to helping you get your Economic Impact Payment as soon as possible. The payments, also referred to by some as stimulus payments, are automatic for most taxpayers. No further action is needed by taxpayers who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees.

The drive-thru at our Dexter branch will re-open as planned tomorrow, April 7, at 8:15 AM. We have professionally cleaned and disinfected the bank facility and will continue to take precautions as recommended by the CDC and local health agencies. All employees returning to work have not been in contact with affected individuals for at least 14 days and are not considered at risk of having or spreading the virus. We understand the inconvenience that the temporary closure created for many of our customers but believe the health and well-being of our community must be everyone’s priority. Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this time. Please stay safe.

Your safety is important to us! We can help you do your banking from home. With Mobile Deposit, you can deposit checks from your living room... no driving, no lines, no worries. Call us at 573.722.3517 if you have any questions or need assistance.

Pics for Providers

We had some help from our employees' kids in making thank you cards for health care providers and other frontline professionals. We will be sending these handmade cards to the Pics for Providers project, but we also wanted to share them with you and say thank you to our local doctors, nurses, and medical staff. If you would like to participate by sending your own homemade cards, learn how at: #spreadkindness

A message from Harold Miles, President, Bank of Advance

We have confirmed that two staff members at our Dexter branch have recently tested positive for COVID-19. Both experienced mild symptoms and fortunately are now recovering at home. Neither experienced symptoms while in the Bank and they will remain at home under quarantine for the recommended time based on CDC guidelines.

Our primary concern is protecting our staff, customers, and community. In order to minimize the spread, and for the safety of our staff, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close the Dexter branch as of Thursday, April 2 to allow for thorough sterilization of the facility. We plan to reopen no later than Tuesday, April 7.

Due to the growing concerns with the coronavirus, our staff had previously begun working on alternating schedules to assist with social distancing efforts and limit exposure. Employees returning to work on April 7 will have not been in contact with the two confirmed cases for fourteen days and will be considered clear of the virus.

We sincerely regret this inconvenience and encourage customers to utilize our online banking options, our mobile app with remote deposit, and our ATMs. Drive-thru access at our main banking facility in Advance, Bell City branch, and Chaffee branch will remain open. Additionally, many of our Dexter staff will continue to work remotely and will be available by calling our main office at (573) 722-3517 and we will be offering necessary assistance to customers affected by this closure.

In these unprecedented times, we strive to balance the service to our customers with the welfare of our employees. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to fulfilling your banking needs in the future. Please stay safe and follow all social distancing guidelines as recommended by the CDC.

Businesses are truly the unsung heroes of small-town communities. During these uncertain times, we can still show our small businesses some love. When possible, consider buying gift cards, ordering takeout, and shopping with local online retailers. On this National Mom and Pop Business Owners day, we say thank you to the small and medium-sized businesses that make our towns better. #staysafe #shoplocal #eatlocal #banklocal

While a lot of us are busy working from home, so are the scammers. Please beware of emails, phone calls, letters, text messages or any other communication asking for money or personal information. The Bank of Advance will NEVER call you to ask for your account information. Do not give out your Online Banking log in, account number, debit card number, or social security number over the phone. Visit for more information and tips to keep scammers at bay.

UPDATE: We have now given out all of the Easter eggs. Thanks to those who came and got a bag and good luck on all your egg hunts!

Due to the unfortunate cancellation of our Easter Egg Hunt, we have an abundance of pre-filled Easter eggs and would like to offer our resources to the community. If you are in need of supplies for your household’s Easter egg hunt, we would be glad to help.

You can come to the WALK-UP WINDOW at our Advance branch to pick up a bag of pre-filled Easter eggs. One bag per family please and only available while supplies last.

During these uncertain times, the safest place for your money is in the bank. You will have continued access to your funds and deposits are FDIC-insured. You don’t have the same level of protection when your money is outside the banking system. Banks are required by law to have extensive disaster recovery plans in place to protect customer accounts, and state and federal regulators routinely examine each bank on their preparations.
