Thank you to the wonderful team at Sona Bank in facilitating the PPP for us small business owners...I am so glad I chose to go with Sona, as always received the personal care and attention that is needed and especially at such a time as we are in . Highly recommend banking with them ....a special thank you to Mr. Bob Neff and Ms .Aman Verma and all those who worked in the background a many hours to make this all happen
This is the worse bank ever! I have been lied to over and over again by Williamsburg VA branch manager about the status of my account. I have visited this office several times just to be brushed off! THIS ISSUE WAS SUPPOSE TO BE RESSOLVED MONTHS AGO!
I wish Sona Bank would upgrade from Popmoney to Zelle. Zelle payment transfers are instant; Popmoney, not so much!
Kudos to your Central Garage, VA branch. Setting up a business account today was simple, straightforward and painless. The representatives were knowledgeable and very helpful!
Thanks for the great customer service experience I had today.
It's OFFICIAL registration is now open for Grace Home Ministries' 6th Annual "Golf to Change Lives" golf tournament presented by Sonabank!
My husband recently received a letter from SonaBank indicating that his account has been overdrawn for 8 days. An account that he has not used for years, but kept a small amount in just to keep it open in case we wanted to use it in the future. Believing that his account was being used fraudulently, he called and spoke to someone to see what was going on. He was told that the bank had been drawing $3 imaging fees every month for use of mobile banking. According to SonaBank's website, all of their checking accounts are free, no monthly charges. Also according to their site, the use of the mobile banking feature is free, and images of any checks are included at no charge to the customer. As stated, he has not used this account sonce long before EVB merged with SonaBank, and has never used checks, so there shouldnt be any images to upload. The person he spoke with claimed that letters had been sent to him, but he "probably didn't receive them because they had our old address on file." So how did he not receive those, but the overdraft notice managed to get forwarded? He was told that he owed a $75 overdraft charge, and will continue to be charged that amount every 7 days that the account is overdrafted. When my husband asked about a resolution to this, he was simply told that he needs to bring his account out of overdraft, that nothing else can be done, and was hurried off of the phone. We would have no problem taking care of the fee if it was truly due to our negligence, but we are not in the wrong, despite what the customer service rep insinuated on the phone. Once this issue is resolved, the account will be closed and we will warn others to stay away from using SonaBank due to the shady fees and smug customer service reps. If I have to report this to the BBB I will gladly do so.
are you aware that your atm in Warrenton has been broken on a regular basis for months. As a customer I would like to see it fixed. Since you charge for using other ATMs it has been a real inconvenience for me.
Thank you SonaBank for freezing my debit card 2,000 miles away from home on Christmas eve. If only I hadn't told my bank that I was travelling, I could understand this happening , but FORTUNATELY I did tell my bank, who still insisted on freezing my account as I tried to embarrassingly pay for dinner. *DECLINED*. Thankfully , I had $20--my last $20--to pay for dinner last night. But thank you so much for ruining my Christmas @sonabank, you magnificently did that right. thank goodness for $0.39 cent Ramen packs, my Christmas dinner--thanks again Sona Bank!
You guys need to fix your atm at your branch in Brandywine, MD. It has been down for over a month now!!
I put $500 in a savings account at a local EVB branch about 5 years ago so I could be a "customer" and use their coin counting machine/service. I've always just thrown away the quarterly paper statements because who cares about the .14 cents interest earned. Well turns out all the warnings that my account was about to enter dormancy also looked exactly like the paper statements and I had just been trashing them. Fortunately, my wife recently opened one out of curiosity and turns out I've been getting fined $10 a month for the last like 5 months. I called the branch and at first the lady said she would refund the money but after she talked to a manager she said they were nonrefundable fines that the state actually charges them. Fine. However, when we first got on the phone she confirmed she had my correct email and phone number so why had they never tried to use them to get a hold of me? I explained to her that when you are earning .45 cents a year in an account and then all the sudden start getting fined $10 it's a huge deal. That's like a 25 years worth of accumulated interest disappearing each month. I said I could care less about the $50, but it's the principal. What would have happened if I didn't open a statement for another two years? I told her I can't be a customer any longer and that their communication policy needs some serious work!
I would like to say Thank you to the Gloucester Point branch. They are always so nice and go the extra mile to help. They have my business because they offer me the personal attention that I am looking for from a bank.

We believe in better banking, and we believe in you.

Southern National Bancorp of Virginia, Inc. headquartered in McLean, Virginia is the holding company for Sonabank, a state chartered bank headquartered in Glen Allen, Virginia. Our first branch opened on April 14, 2005 and we have quickly grown into a strong, highly profitable bank. On June 23, 2017, Sonabank and EVB, two historic and successful Virginia banks, came together following our transformational merger of equals. EVB’s history dates back to 1910, making them a leader in community banking throughout Eastern and Central Virginia. Both organizations share the mindset of not just building a bigger bank—but a better one for our customers, employees, shareholders, and communities. Our combined organization now offers 45 retail locations across Virginia, Maryland and the Washington D.C. area—making us the 5th largest Virginia based community bank with total assets less than $10 billion. We also have loan production offices in Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Chesterfield, and Warrenton, Virginia. Together, our customers have access to leading Commercial, Real Estate, and Small Business Administration Lenders, as well as the ability to choose from unique products such as mortgage solutions through our affiliation with Southern Trust Mortgage; Kasasa®, free checking that rewards you for banking; P.O.W.E.R.®, a program designed specifically for women in business; and Community Believers, a program designed for non-profit organizations.

We are pleased to announce that we are partnering with Zelle® coming June 11th.

Zelle® is a fast, safe and easy way to send and receive money with friends, family and others you trust. You can receive money directly into your bank account in minutes.

We hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day!

As a reminder, all branches will be closed in observance.
