Federal Aid Programs for the State of Texas | FEMA.gov

To our valued clients:
Let me first take this opportunity to say how much we value the trust you have placed in Harned Insurance Services. We know that many of you have suffered personally and financially during this terrible, unprecedented catastrophe and we want you to know that we are here to help you get through this as quickly and painlessly as possible. If you have questions about coverage or need to file a claim, please contact us as soon as possible because the insurance companies are getting an enormous number of claims filed.
We also realize that many of you chose not to buy flood insurance because the likelihood of a flood, in your area, was historically unprecedented. While you may not have coverage for flood-related damages, you may be able to get some assistance from FEMA in the form of a grant or a low-interest loan. In order to pursue these opportunities, you will need to submit a claim and be denied by your homeowners, renters, or commercial property insurance carrier. Automobiles that did not carry full coverage (including comprehensive coverage) fall into this same category. The following link provides important information regarding these FEMA programs.
We have also received numerous requests from people wanting to add flood coverage going forward, due to concerns about other potential storms that are in the news. Unfortunately, there is currently a moratorium on selling flood coverage and once the moratorium is lifted; the mandatory 30-day wait period will apply. The only exception to the 30 day waiting period is if your closing on a home and your bank requires the flood coverage. Then coverage can be made effective the same date as your closing.
We are doing everything we can to help our clients get the coverages they paid for and to find other avenues to soften the blow of losses for which they may not have purchased coverage. Please, do not make any assumptions about your coverages or attempt to file a claim without speaking to us first. It is extremely important to let us advise you to avoid misunderstandings that can lead to a denial of coverage.
Note: We WILL be available this weekend and on Labor Day to assist you. Feel free to contact us at 832-382-0576 or 281-798-6504.
We wish you and your family and friends the best in this difficult time and we are here to help.
