...DEPRESSION MOVING NORTHWARD...
...HEAVY RAINS WILL SPREAD OVER WESTERN CUBA LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT...
A Tropical Storm Warning continues for the Cuban provinces of Pinar del Rio and the Isle of Youth, and for the coast of Mexico from Tulum to Cabo Catoche. Tropical storm conditions are expected to first reach the coast within the warning area by this evening or tonight, making outside preparations difficult or dangerous. Interests along the northeastern and central U.S. Gulf coast should monitor the progress of the depression. For storm information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your national meteorological service.
Tropical Depression Fourteen is centered at 10 a.m. CDT about 225 miles (365 km) southwest of the western tip of Cuba. It's moving moving toward the north near 6 mph (9 km/h). On the forecast track, the center will move near the northeastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula Monday morning, and then across the eastern Gulf of Mexico late Monday through Wednesday morning.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast to occur during the next several days, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm later today. It will be named "Michael" at that time. The system could become a hurricane by Tuesday night or Wednesday.
NHC will issue at intermediate advisory at 1 p.m. CDT and the next complete advisory at 4 p.m. CDT - www.hurricanes.gov
Florence is now a Cat 4
weather.com A strike on the U.S. East Coast is now likely. Here's what you need to know.
NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center
...FLORENCE BECOMING BETTER ORGANIZED...
...EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN TO A HURRICANE TONIGHT...
Tropical Storm Florence is centered at 11 a.m. AST over the Atlantic Ocean about 835 miles (1340 km) southeast of Bermuda. It's moving toward the west near 7 mph (11 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue during the next couple of days. On the forecast track, the center of Florence will move over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda and the Bahamas Tuesday and Wednesday, and approach the southeastern U.S. coast on Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds remain near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts, but Florence is likely to restrengthen to a hurricane by tonight. Rapid intensification is expected to start on Sunday. Florence is forecast to be a dangerous major hurricane near the southeast U.S. coast by late next week, and the risk of direct impacts continues to increase. However, given the uncertainty in track and intensity forecasts at those time ranges, it's too soon to determine the exact timing, location, and magnitude of those impacts. Interests along the U.S. East Coast, particularly from north Florida through North Carolina, should closely monitor the progress of Florence, ensure they have their hurricane plan in place, and follow any advice given by local officials.
Swells generated by Florence are affecting Bermuda and will reach portions of the U.S. East Coast during the weekend. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office - www.weather.gov The next advisory will be issued by NHC at 5 p.m. AST - www.hurricanes.gov
3 POTENTIAL SYSTEMS IN ATLANTIC 🌀 | We may see 2 hurricanes make landfall next week. Florence is aiming at the Carolinas, another towards the lesser Antilles.

Florida, it’s time to pay attention to the tropics. In this update, we’re talking flash flooding near Pensacola from Harvey, newly-formed Tropical Storm Irma, and something NEW in the Gulf.
NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center
Hurricane Harvey continues to move toward the Texas Coast. It's centered at 7 p.m. CDT about 275 miles (445 km) southeast of Corpus Christi. On the forecast track, Harvey will approach the middle Texas coast on Friday and make landfall Friday night or early Saturday. Harvey is then likely to stall near or just inland of the middle Texas coast through the weekend.
Reports from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that maximum sustained winds remain near 85 mph with higher gusts. While Harvey has changed little in strength over the past few hours, strengthening is expected to resume during the next few hours, and Harvey is expected to become a major hurricane by Friday before it reaches the middle Texas coast with winds of 125 mph.
A Storm Surge Warning continues from Port Mansfield to High Island Texas, and a Storm Surge Watch from South of Port Mansfield Texas to the Mouth of the Rio Grande. A Hurricane Warning is in effect from Port Mansfield to Sargent Texas, and a Tropical Storm Warning from north of Sargent to High Island Texas and south of Port Mansfield Texas to the Mouth of the Rio Grande. A Hurricane Watch continues from south of Port Mansfield Texas to the Mouth of the Rio Grande and a Tropical Storm Watch from south of the Mouth of the Rio Grande to Boca de Catan Mexico. Hurricane conditions are likely within the hurricane warning area late Friday or Friday night, with tropical storm conditions expected to first reach the coast in the hurricane warning area Friday.
Harvey is expected to bring life-threatening storm surge, rainfall, and wind hazards to portions of the Texas coast. Preparations to protect life and property should be completed by tonight, as tropical-storm-force winds will first arrive in the hurricane and storm surge warning areas on Friday.

Harvey is now forecast to become a Major Hurricane when it hits Texas tomorrow. Winds up to 115 mph, life-threatening storm surge, and catastrophic inland flooding expected as the storm likely stalls over the Lone Star State for days. More on the storm at https://floridastorms.org/?p=29060.
