Saving for retirement requires planning on your part. Make funding your retirement savings automated -even a small contribution has the potential to grow into a large nest egg. The key is allowing your money to grow over time. If your employer offers a 401(k) plan, take advantage of it along with any employer contributions. Another advantage of your 401(k) is the pre-tax savings on your earnings. Doubly smart!

Always pay yourself first. An easy way to do this is to set up an automatic deposit or transfer into a separate account. Treat it like any other bill and make a regular monthly payment toward it.

Plus, get overdraft protection, access to over 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs worldwide and more! Don’t already have a Loudoun Credit Union Debit Card? Contact us today to start making fast and easy payments everyday!

Wise words from Martin Luther King Jr.

An emergency savings account is so important, even if you are carrying debt. A stash of cash for a rainy day will stop you from putting something like a flat tire on a credit card.

Reminder: We will be closed on Monday, January 20th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Please plan ahead for any in-person transactions.

Knowing your net worth is key to ensuring your own financial wellness. It’s easy – you calculate your assets minus your liabilities.

Your assets include your investment accounts, retirement accounts, bank accounts, real estate properties and more. Your liabilities include any mortgages, car loans, student loans, notes payable, line of credits, or other debts. Grab the most recent statements for all your assets and liabilities. Then add up the current market value of your assets and subtract from that the current market value of all your liabilities – That is your Net Worth!

Once you’ve calculated your net worth, you can track it over time and stay organized.

Due to the current weather conditions and concern for safety of our staff and members, our office closed today at 1:00pm. We will re-open tomorrow for regular business hours. We apologize for any inconvenience. Safe travels everyone!
