Although the Fed is taking additional measures to stabilize our economy, we are facing unprecedented times, economically and beyond. Rates have seen all time lows and have slightly bounced back but we are still seeing historically low interest rates.

Today I learned that Los Angeles County is the third most productive economy per capita in the world behind New York and Tokyo and we are making strides towards eliminating homelessness. Although this is a multi layered issue that will take multiple agencies, lots of dialogues, and A LOT of patience and perseverance to remediate, Los Angeles has already made strides in alleviating homelessness.

Questions regarding credit are one of the most common questions I get and sadly, it is apparent that the general public has very little education about how their credit score is derived. I can’t count how many times someone had told me their credit karma score and it come out different when I run credit. Nowadays it is easier for a consumer to look into their credit history but the credit system is a little bit more complex, due to multiple scoring models used for example, than consumers are led to believe — “...the specific algorithms used to arrive at your numbers are different. And both brands have multiple versions — upgraded editions, often — which also contribute to variations in the scores that you see. Even the credit-reporting companies can provide same-named scores that differ from one to the next due to differences in the information reported to them or the timing of it.”

Existing Home Sales fell 4.9% in March, which was a little worse than the 3.8% decline expected. The previous month was a very strong reading, so a pullback was expected. Some of the decline was due to bad weather in the Midwest with the polar vortex and flooding, which explains why the Midwest was down the most. Additionally, Existing Home Sales for March likely represents buyers shopping in January. And that was after the big decline in Stock prices in December. Investors looking at their statements in January were likely not psychologically in a position where they wanted to purchase homes.
