[05/21/17]   America first, means poor second (that only if something left): today we are witnessing the biggest wealth shifting in mankind history; $450 Billion moved from the poorest Middle Eastern people to the richest North America. Indeed, the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer... The U.S. is not excused; neither the arm/weapon lobbyists; recall what Jesus said in Matthew 19:23 "it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God"

Trump: $450 Billion should spent on building universities and hospitals, not on guns..

[03/29/17]   Understanding the healthcare issues in the US: this is the goal of today's post.

I will explain the differences between Dem and GOP policies when it comes to the best Health-Care Bill (HCB), in ONLY a few words.

Dem goal: Max Coverage
GOP goal: Min Cost

One might think these are 2 different goals, not really!!

Dem philosophy is that when we achieve Max coverage, the cost goes down due to RISK SHARING.

GOP philosophy is that when we minimize the cost, more people will have coverage since it will be more affordable.

So you can see both are in the right side as both wanna lower cost and more people covered, yet the approach is different.

We believe the best HCB would be the one that agreeable by both parties, since it will balance the Max coverage with the Min cost.

Thank you.

[03/09/17]   Trump and the stock market: Why the stock market is expected to go up by double digits this following year?

The stock market is expected to go up this coming year by more than 10%, and some say 17% (e.g., Bloomberg). To what extend President Trump contributes to this high expectations?

Some of the high expectations is due to the fact that many investors took out their money from the stock market BEFORE the election, and put it in cash, and now they think re-invest.

Yet, the Trump contribution is also big.. Investors and Wall Street's dream is that the US government not to be involved, neither directly nor indirectly, in their business. Trump fights with GOP establishment in one hand. and with, of course, the Dem on the other hands, nicely serves this purpose.

In a separate research, we showed that when the US president is weak, there will be less regulations and less surprises, which is great for the financial market. Thus, weak government makes America Great again, and that's another promise that Trump delivers on.

Thank you.

[12/31/16]   Happy new year to all members!

Our final post of this 2016 year is about how the financial market will respond to Trump presidency.

In short: we expect High risk High return...

Yet, for more detail we ought to distinguish between short and long run.

1. Short run: High risk High return... the stock market will be volatile with over optimism for new presidency ....best investment is momentum stocks.. In recent study, we found that when political news dominate the overall news cycle, momentum stock over-perform...

2. Long run: the market will cool down and Trump's effect vanishes.. then go back to fundamental.. i.e., value & growth stocks

Once again happy new year and hope to post you again next year.

The founder of GCFPF

despite we have the first African american president, yet data about wealth demonstrate the racial gap increased between 2007-2013

Wealth ratio: White/African american increased from 5 times to 7.1 times.. an increase of about 42%

despite we have first female president of federal reserve bank, yet the gap between males & females increased between 2007 - 2012...males earn more than females. from 2.99 times to 3.738 times... about 24.7% increases of male wealth versus female wealth...

please if you have questions why? who? how? where????? please follow the GCFPF

[10/26/15]   I found these stats to be very useful to further understand the political finance...

the optimal oil price for budget break even by country:

الحد الأدنى لسعر البرميل الذي يمنع عجز في الميزانية:

الكويت ٤٩ Kuwait $49

قطر : ٥٦ Qatar $56

الإمارات ٧٣ United Emirates: 73$

السعودية ١٠٦ Saudi $106

Deep pocket by country for $50 price of oil:

$مدة صمود دول الخليج بسعر البترول ٥٠

الإمارات ٣٠ سنة United Emirates years 30
قطر ٢٥ سنة Qatar years 25
الكويت ٢٥ سنة Kuwait 25 years
السعودية ٥ سنوات فقط Saudi 5 years

One might argue that you need to break down the deep pocket figures by 2 since the numbers are from the official countries and very inflated.. so the deep pocket for Saudi will be at most 2 years...

Bottom line: if the price of oil stays below 50 bad future is waiting for these countries...

Chinese stocks plunge again after record plunge

The director of the Global Center for Political Finance, Yosef Bonaparte, discusses the Fallout in the USA from Black Monday in China Stock Market via ABC channel..

his take away are:
1. The pressure on raising the interest rate will ease; and that actually will lower the mortgage cost
2. The oil prices keep low
3. For every $1 we can buy more from China..

here's the link for the full report:

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/chinese-stocks-plunge-again-after-record-plunge

thedenverchannel.com It is already Tuesday in Asia, just one day after the New York Stock Exchange suffered a historic drop. Chinese stocks have plunged again a day after the country's main benchmark suffered its biggest tumble in eight years.

[07/14/15]   Iran Nuclear Deal: Winners and losers && oil prices??
the Winner is Iran;
the LOSER is is also Iran

Before we point our view, first we need to address how's that influence the oil prices. Unlike the New York Times Wall-street journal and others, we believe that despite the hikes in the global oil supply, the price of oil will actually go up since Iran will sell the oil with the market price and not a penny below fair price.. thus less black market and more fair market...

now we turn to winners and losers; yes the winner is Iran because the deal says to wait 10 years in case you are interested to have a nuclear bomb;

the Loser is also Iran since if Iran waited longer will have a much better deal since Russia and China and other BRIC countries inform the west that they won't tolerate the sanction against Iran any more... should Iran waited and developed more nuc technology, we believe they will have a much better deal.

anyhow, like other big events sounds big but really no change will occur in your life... good bye for the next political finance event.

[07/07/15]   What is the TAKE AWAY from the Greek referendum?

1. MORE political capital to prime minister Alexis Tsipras
2. MORE political capital to prime minister Alexis Tsipras
3. Don't forget 1 & 2

The Greek referendum is a typical & a master example of why politics and finance at the global level is important; thus, this is the reason we establish your Global Center for Political Finance, to educate our followers about the interaction between global politics and finance.

Now straight to the case itself, prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, made a great political maneuver, and I believe it will be taught in top political science schools. He is coming to the negotiation table with more leverage & much better conditions, as supported by the great but bankrupt people of Greek.

The center view is that Greek will stay in the EU but with better conditions.. i.e., waive some of the debt, and whatever left, will be paid by the end of this century or the next century.. no rushing.

The key question though? what's in it for Germany??!! this is not a simple question since in politics not always 1+1=2, sometimes and often more/less than 2... its up to other none sense issues.

Director of the GCFPF

[05/16/15]   what does a small coalition size means to the financial market (61 out of 120 as the case in Israel)?

In short: GOOD

The GCFPF predicts that the volatility (uncertainty) in the stock market decreases when the government does not have large support in the Parliament.. no big new regulations, and no new surprising bills; that lowers the uncertainty as the surprise factor declines... as they say, no news is good news...

with regard to stock market performance, certainly we need to further perform examinations to confirm if there is a correlation.

“There are very few cases where you can definitively identify sanctions as having had a success, except sometimes in combination with other factors.” So says Professor Adam Roberts of Oxford University. So in the case of the Russian Annexation of Crimea, does the financial data support this assertion? Are American and European sanctions effective?

Dear Members,

Our recent article is about political partisanship and its impact on the stock market volatility (risk). This article, authored by our director Yosef Bonaparte, is a special one because of its application in our life. For example, how partisanship between husband & wife impacts their kids; or partisanship between high school principal and the teachers influences students in the school; or partisanship between CEO and board members impacts on firm's productivity.

Thank you and happy Friday!

The Global Center For Political Finance congrats our UBCO students who represented us at the CFA Forecast Dinner. Our Investment Group was selected among all University in BC Canada to select the successful stock for the year 2014. The students' leadership role, especially Dan, Robert and Julia was nothing short but spectacular. I believe we planted the seed for future leaders in the financial sector to serve North America in general and Canada in particular.

I am calling out our Palestinian leaderships who follow us via this social network to witness our success, because I am planing to build up the financial sector for the Palestinian INSIDE Israel this coming summer, including building the stock market ('Porsa'/'Shok HaHon') located in Nazareth/Shafamr. The first step to build this elite prestigious 'devise' starts with producing financial leaderships, which I performed here in western Canada within short period of time.

If you guys invest 1% of the time you invested in any other civil right issues, which are very important and I'm thankful for that, I guarantee you 1000% higher return to Palestinian community.

Happy Sunday to ya'll!

Regards, Yosef
