The I.R.S. has announced higher retirement plan contribution limits for 2019. Forbes notes the changes @ Stash up to $6,000 in your IRA and $19,000 in your 401(k) in 2019—and $7,000 more if you’re 50-plus.

Great News! The IRA contribution limit is rising from $5500 per year to $6000 per year starting in 2019. For those 50 and over, the catch-up limit is still $1000 for a total of $7000 per/year.

[08/22/18]   A question that I often get asked about 529 plans is: "Are payments of student loans considered a qualified expense?" The answer is "NO." However, that may change. On July 24, 2018, Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX-8), who is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, proposed allowing borrowers to use 529 plan funds to pay off student debt as part of Tax Reform 2.0.
